There was a time in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve walked and talked with God in natural communion with Him. This fellowship was Spirit to spirit and as such they worshipped Him. The Bible says “God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”(ref,John 4*24). After they had sinned “They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”(ref,Genesis 3*8) They no longer wanted to meet or talk with Him and hid in the place that they had sinned – the trees.
When the Israelites camped before Mt Sinai “All the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance. Then they said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, or we will die.” Exodus 20:20
Despite this refusal, Moses insisted that it was imperative that the people listened to God for themselves.
“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God by obeying His voice and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days.”(ref, Deuteronomy 30*19-20)
When we choose to listen to the Lord God not hide from him like Adam and Eve did in the Garden and the people had done on Sinai, then we will receive life giving sustenance and. In fact it is when we pay attention to God’s voice that we will receive divine health.
“My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body. Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth and put devious speech far from you……….My son, give attention to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; that you may observe discretion and your lips may reserve knowledge.”(ref,Proverbs 4*20- 5*2))
To incline your ear means to turn your head towards God to hear his still small voice (ref,1 Kings 19*12) the whisper of God. Also speaking the truth only, means that you will be discrete and keep the knowledge you have, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”(ref,Psalm 119*105)This scripture is often used to emphasise the need for study of the scripture; however the Hebrew for ‘word’ mean speech; it comes from dabar which means to speak.
Moses demonstrated the ability to hear God’s voice clearly in his life “Hear now My words: if there is a prophet among you, I the LORD, shall make Myself known to him in a vision. I shall speak with him in a dream. Not so, with My servant Moses, He is faithful in all My household; with him I speak mouth to mouth, even openly, and not in dark sayings.” (ref,Numbers 12*7-8)
God’s desire under the New Covenant is to speak with us mouth to mouth just as He did with Moses and Jesus. “The Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”(ref,John 5*19)
“I do nothing of my own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught me. And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.(ref,John 8*28-29)
The trouble we often have is the ability to distinguish God’s voice from our own thoughts as He speaks Spirit to spirit or mouth to mouth with us. The following verses from Romans can help.
“It is the Spirit which testifies with our spirit that we are children of God(ref,Rom 8*16)
The same word is used in(ref,Rom 9*1)“I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit that I have great sorrow and unceasing grief in my heart.”
It is in the same place and way that Paul’s conscience and the Holy Spirit testified within. What this means in practice, is that as we show obedience and follow Gods ways, our conscience is sharpened and we hear God clearer. In the same way disobedience blunts and dulls the voice of God.
(ref,1 Corinthians 2:*12-14) “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.”
In the Greek the words ‘thoughts’ and ‘words’ are not present it is just “Combining spiritual with spiritual.” In other words God’s Spirit combining with our spirit is what enables us to know the things freely given to us by God.
By now you may be feeling pretty depressed. But there’s no need to. If you get your self worth from the right place, it only grows stronger every day. It never wears out, dies, or is lost. True motivation comes only from your relationship with Jesus Christ. (ref,John 3*16)”God loves you not for what you can do, how you look, or how much money you have. He loves you simply because you’re you.
His love for you is not based on your performance or any external thing. He created you out of pure love. Your relationship with God is what makes you complete–not a spouse. And though you maybe feeling empty or incomplete now, that’s only a feelings.
God’s love for you doesn’t change. It will never change, through all eternity. God’s love for you is indestructible. Doesn’t it seem wise to base your self esteem on something indestructible? God’s love.
Give some new thought to your priorities. Think about all the things you cherish. No doubt many of them are good and worthwhile. But set a goal to re-order your life.
Make your relationship with Jesus Christ your top priority, and the source of your confidence. It will keep you strong no matter what happens to you in life.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”(ref,John 14*26-28)
God is in control. No matter what happens, He will never let any test that will defeat you, never doubt that. For followers of Jesus, everything will turn out for good. No person and no bad event can separate us from him.
When Jesus tells us not to be afraid, that’s not a suggestion that’s a command! He’s reassuring us because he does know the future for us, Remember something important. In the Garden of Gethsemane, before His crucifixion, Jesus was afraid. He has experienced fear too. Nobody understands like Jesus when it comes to your fears.
But because Jesus knows the future and because he cannot lie, we can have the peace he talks about. And wait on Him for victory of eternal life, never doubt that God is with you in every single situation and test of life.,(ref, John 3*16)
The journey of any decision making may be a difficult and long one. By trusting in God’s plans for our lives, we experience peace in the storms of life. Any decision that draws us closer in our relationship with God assures us a success (ref,Jeremiah 29*11-13). When we surrender our will (pride and selfish motives) to God’s will, He gives us the desires of our heart (ref,Psalm 27*3-5).
When we exclude God from our decision making, we intentionally ignore God’s instructions. “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word. But those who choose their own ways, delighting in their sins, are cursed . . . I will send great troubles against them—all the things they feared . . . When I spoke, they did not listen. They deliberately sinned—before my very eyes—and chose to do what they know I despise”(ref,Isaiah 66*2-4). Our pride and selfishness suggests, “I’ll take this course of action. If God doesn’t stop me, it must be okay.” Instead, God’s direction and wisdom must be sought before we make any decision.
• Your Mind – Results in impetuous choices (ref,1 Corinthians 3*18-19).
• Peer Pressure – Produces confusion and failure (ref,Jeremiah 7*24).
• God’s Mind – Gives supernatural wisdom to you. (ref,Proverbs 2*3-8).
A Humbling Experience
One of the most difficult factors in decision making is humbling oneself, admitting that you don’t know it all or that you’ve failed.
We all make costly mistakes, decisions that we wish we never made. Moses ignored God’s instructions (ref,Numbers 20*8-12), Samson surrendered his strength (ref,Judges 16*17-21), and Peter repeatedly denied knowing Jesus Christ (ref,John 18*25-27). Each of these mighty men humbled themselves by asking for God’s forgiveness. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (ref1 John 1*9).
God is a mystery, but He wants us to know Him. He reveals Himself in so many ways, if we’re open to Him and trusting Him with our soul and heart. We were going to know His mind of us, meaning His plan and will of us.
Spiritual growth is a puzzle that takes a lifetime to build, but if you’re serious about it, you’ll find pieces that begin to fall into place, one after another.
Someone once said that God is willing to reveal as much of himself to us as we want to know. At times it can be a struggle to us, even frustrating, yet it’s also the most exciting quest known to man.
Nothing beats knowing God. Wealth, fame, awards, and worldly accomplishments are like child’s play compared to a true hunger for God. He is so big, so complex, so beautiful that knowing him well will take not only this lifetime, but the rest of eternity.
As you pursue Him, He pursues you too,If you haven’t yet thrown your whole heart and self into this great adventure, I urge you to do so.
It is, without a doubt, the most fun experience you will ever have in this life, as He planned of you, it is not to hurt you but lead you to abundance He created for, fear not He is with you.
Here are just a few of the things God says about you in the Bible:
>I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. (ref,Proverbs 8*17)
>Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.(ref,Psalm 37*4-5)
>He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (ref,Psalm 147*3)
>Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you.(ref,1 Peter 5:7)
>The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.(ref,Psalm 34*18)
It’s important to believe God because He has only one motive: love. His love is unconditional, honest, and everlasting. You will never be able to comprehend how much God loves you. and blessed you are with the riches of Heaven,
Maybe you feel insignificant because you don’t measure up to the world’s standards. But don’t believe the world. Believe God.
He made you the way you are for a reason. You’re unique. Not another of the 6 billion people on this planet has your fingerprints or DNA. There’s only one you because God wanted it that way.
So often we’re influenced by people who want to sell us things. They flatter us or make us feel inadequate so we’ll buy their product or service. But God’s not selling a thing. Scripture says He knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. God cares about you so much that He even knows how many hairs you have on your head. Nothing in your life escapes His notice, no matter how trivial it may seem. By the way He is your Father, He loves you more than limited thoughts of others. He made you to be success.
BELIEVE HIM ONLY, NOT WHAT OTHERS THINK…..
The power of prayer is not the result of the person praying. Rather, the power resides in the God who is being prayed to. (ref,1 John 5*14-15) “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.” No matter the person praying, the passion behind the prayer, or the purpose of the prayer – God answers prayers that are in agreement with His will. His answers are not always yes, but are always in our best interest. When our desires line up with His will, we will come to understand that in time. When we pray passionately and purposefully, according to God’s will, God responds powerfully!
We cannot access powerful prayer by using “magic formulas.” Our prayers being answered is not based on the eloquence of our prayers
In fact, Jesus rebukes those who pray using repetitions, “And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (ref,Matthew 6*7-8). Prayer is communicating with God. All you have to do is ask God for His help.(ref,Psalm 107*28-30)reminds us, “Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.” There is power in prayer!
God’s help through the power of prayer is available for all kinds of requests and issues. (ref,Philippians 4*6-7) “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
How the heart is the place of true belief not just the mind.
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes resulting in righteousness.” (ref,Rom 10*9-10)
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”
The importance of what you say or do in your heart, as it reflects the real you.“If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’” (ref,Deut 7*17)
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (ref,Mt 5*28
(ref,Mark 11*23)“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.”
This is why we are told to guard our heart with right thinking and acting.
(ref,Ephesians 6*14) “Put on the breastplate of righteousness.
How true forgiveness comes from the heart
(ref,Mt 18*35) “My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.
Good advice comes in(ref,James 4*8)
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
(ref,Jeremiah 33*3) “Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognise, and have knowledge of and understand).”
(ref,Proverbs 2*1) “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
(ref,Matt 13*23 )“And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”
How fruitful and treasure filled is your life? Take a while to meditate on how that can be changed.
